Latest activities of the Human Rights Monitoring Programme
Under the Human Rights Monitoring (HRM) programme, IOM Zimbabwe represented by the Transition and Resilience team is currently on a field tour to Mutare and Chiredzi conducting implementing partner capacity building to consortium partners (IIDF and PDI) and carrying out emergency response activities for the Gutsaruzhinji displacement in Chiredzi.
The mission trip was split into two with one team attending to emergency response for the Gutsaruzhinji displacement which affected 300 individuals (56 hhlds) in Chiredzi. IOM supported the response with a consignment of 240 emergency shelter tents and Personal Protective Equipment consisting of hand sanitizers, face masks and gloves. These were handed over to the Chiredzi District Coordinator’s (DDC) office for distribution to affected individuals.
In Mutare, the HRM team participated in the COVID-19 awareness training session held at ARDA Transau clinic in Odzi and hosted by our partner the International Institute for Development Facilitation (IIDF). A total of 25 participants (18 females,7 males), mainly village health workers, attended the training mainly. It was facilitated by officials from Ministry of Health and Child Care. ARDA Transau is still a new IDP location hosting families displaced from Chiadzwa diamond fields. The event was also marked with the handover of PPE (water buckets, masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, soap, and stationery) to ARDA Clinic.
